Trip to Parliament Down Under

When we first arrived in Canberra, there was not much to show for it. We were placed in this small city, surrounded by nothing but fields of sand and dirt. There were buildings around the town with few shops and restaurants, but going from Sydney to Canberra, it was a big difference. What Canberra did have that Sydney did not however, were all of these historical sites as well as the Parliament house of Australia. We first visited the top of Anzac hill, looking down on Canberra. There was a triangle made from the top of the hill, the house of parliament and the area controlling the power of Canberra. We then went down and soon came to the house of Parliament where we learned all of how things are voted on and run between the house of Representatives and the house of Senate. We also learned that the Emu and Kangaroo are the two animals on the coat of arms of Australia because they are the only two animals that cannot walk backwards, intending that Australia will only continue to move forwards and never look back. After visiting Parliament we continued through Canberra, walking down the Anzac parade then going to the War memorial. It was a day full of much information, amazing sites, and yet another memorable moment in Australia.
