Koala Sanctuary
Brisbane was by far one of my favorite places we had visited in Australia. There were so many people staying in our YHA from all over the world it was so fun to meet and talk to them. While in Brisbane we had a day where we visited the Koala Sanctuary. Sadly it was also the day after I had the misfortune of breaking a bone, what bone was it may be the saddest and funniest part of the day because it was just my baby toe. However this sad and small little bone landed me being wheeled around in a wheel chair all day around the zoo. Other than that little misfortune however, it was a great and fun filled day. Not only did we attend showings of sheep herders, birds, and the infamous playtapus, but we also were giving the chance to pet and feed kangaroos! It was such a great experience to walk around in this giant kangaroo cage, touching these amazing creatures not many people are given the chance to see let alone pet! They were so soft and such gentle animals, if only they could be regular pets in America. We then were given the chance to hold koalas! They were so soft, and their back and bottoms were so hard. They completely clung to you once they were placed in your arms, it was almost like holding a newborn baby, they were so adorable. I loved visiting the Koala sanctuary, even if I was stuck in a wheelchair for the entire day.
