Fraser Island
Fraser Island was such a fun mini trip in our journey through Australia. Not only were our tour guides great, but I had so much fun with everyone on it. The drive up there alone was so fun, being in the back of the giant jeep with Brittany E., Devin, Jared, Sara, and Brittany, made the drive even more fun. We first stopped on Rainbow Beach which was so beautiful. We then had a nice little lunch of sandwiches and soon hoped onto the ferry to make our way over to Fraser Island. Driving on the beach was also a blast, I fell off my seat a couple of times, but it was still so fun. Walking through the rainforests there was so cool. I have been to Costa Rica before and on our trip there we hiked through many rainforests, but they never get old. It so wonderful to look up at these giant tress and around you to see all these new and different plants. The trees were phenomenal to stare up into, it took over ten people to wrap their arms around one! After spending one night at our hostel, the next morning we woke up early, hopped into the buses, and were off again. We went driving on the beaches, hiked through another rainforest right off the beach, up a cliff where we saw the most spectacular view of the ocean. We also got to walk up a fresh water river right off the beach which was so fun. Walking along the beach we always had to be careful though of the Dingos, one of which stole our jeep drivers sandal which she chased down and got back luckily. Our second night when we traveled back off Fraser Island was a sad night since we all had so much fun there. The next day as we made it back to Brisbane, we were brought to a Marina where we were given the opportunity to feed wild dolphins. Though I did not feed them, I still got to go up to them in the water and touch them. They were so cute and gentle, barley afraid of all these humans that were surrounding them. It was a sad and long ride back to the YHA, but another day was ahead of us on our great trip through Australia that we were all looking forward to.
